Self-portrait

Here's thee skinny - I really like to make pictures.

I've been at it for over 10 years and am finally, on most days, pretty happy with the results. I'm also a monster perfectionist so "pretty happy" is an amazing feeling.

I especially love shooting live concerts and people. Live concerts are very challenging technically and the results are quite unpredictable - a wonderful part of the challenge. When shooting live shows I like to focus on the lighting, the emotion of the moment and the relationship between the musicians.

I have a similar approach to shooting people - light, emotion and relationships. I look for the special, hidden and often magical moments that people miss or overlook. The camera has the ability to freeze time and I see that as a privilege and an honour. I want those special nanoseconds where a look spells love, or that fleeting moment in time when a smile speaks of deep happiness. That is the fuel of my passion.

Photography is hard also very hard as expertly described in this Zack Arias' blog post. You can find my contribution at number 95. I hope you take the time to read through it, it will open your eyes to the challenges we face as photographers and artists.

Enough about me - take a stroll through the photo galleries and drop me a note if you have any questions, thoughts or comments.
